After School Programs (ASP)

 At JIES Preschoolers and Kindergarteners also have the opportunity to join the After School programs (ASP). They can mix and socialize with their friends from other classes, and relax, through these extracurricular activities, guided by the members of our faculty as well as those from the larger community.
Some examples of the current and past ASPs that are available for Preschoolers and Kindergarteners are:

After School Programs (Spring Term)
Bugs Exploration (Pre/Kinder/G)
Indoor Games (Kinder/G)	Students will enjoy various games in the gym and develop their motor skills.
Creative Movement (Pre/Kinder)	A dance class that's more focused on personal choices and expression than specific dance techniques.
Athletics (Pre/Kinder/Grade)
Symphony Time (Pre/Kinder/G)	Each week, students will enjoy a video of a symphonic performance and participate in a brief discussion. Famous symphonies by composers such as Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven will be included, as well as pieces by other, less-well-known composers.
Movie Time (Pre/Kinder/Grade)	Children will enjoy watching Anime Movies with Mr. Sonmez and talk about their favorite movie characters.
Nihon Buyo (Pre/Kinder/G)	The Nihon Buyo is actually inspired by the ordinary people’s daily behaviors such as greeting, walking, sitting and standing and thus it should be actually very approachable and familiar to everyone. We hope this Nihon Buyo ASP could be the chance for JIES children to feel closer to the Japanese mind and music and to learn beauty of Japanese particular movements. (Children wear Japanese Summer Kimono during the lesson, provided by the teacher.) They will perform at the year-end performance.
