Literacy Week

We have come to the end of literacy week!

We have had so much fun doing buddy guided-reading, dressing up in the costume of our favourite book character, and writing our creative writing piece. We also had a book fair running from Monday to Friday of week 8.

This year, our goal was to try and read more pages than last year when reading at home. Thank you to everyone who brought in their reading logs and sent in pictures. Please make sure you check out the pictures in the guided reading area located in the hallway of JIES. Last year the total pages read were 21,232 pages. This year we managed to read 21,465 pages! That is 233 more pages than last year. Congratulations JIES!

On Family Fun Day during the Celebration of Learning we were able to announce the winners for the three categories for the creative writing piece. The works were chosen based on their creativity and imagination and the writer who tried their best at sequencing, spelling, and grammar.

The winner for Kinder to grade 1 is... Selman Sener

The winner for 2nd grade to 3rd grade is... Maya Bean

The winner for 4th, 5th, and 6th is... Alicia

Thank you to everyone who sent in their creative writing this year, it was really hard to pick a winner!
